For 25 years, fans of all things dance and electronic have flocked to Barcelona’s annual Sónar Festival of music and technology. Now, in its 26th iteration, Sónar sets out to create its most sonically, geographically and politically diverse event ever with a lineup of performances that include 140 artists representing 36 countries.
Performers include NYC’s experimental hip-hop hero A$AP Rocky, Puerto Rican raggaeton star Bad Bunny, UK house luminaries Disclosure and Underworld, Korean DJ/producer and singer Peggy Gou, Haitian-Canadian beat star Kaytranada, UK grime king Skepta and Spanish singer Bad Gyal.
Sónar will play host to a myriad of debuts, giving first-time looks at new shows from Four Tet, Floating Points, Arca and more, as well as some special back-to-back sets between Louie Vega and Honey Dijon, Peggy Gou and Palms Trax, and Blawan and Dax J.
Of course, Sónar is more than just a music festival. The four-day conference invites attendees to check out its 7th Congress of Creative Technologies. The program promises more than 150 workshops, masterclasses and eploring the relationship between music and the brain, the interplay of light and sound, artificial intelligence breakthroughs, and more.
Sónar returns to Barcelona, Spain, Wednesday to Saturday, July 17 to 20. Passes are on sale now.
