Los Angeles-based duo Social House are quickly making a name for themselves thanks to Ariana Grande‘s “Boyfriend.” Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael “Mikey” Foster and Charles “Scootie” Anderson first joined forces after moving to Los Angeles. The duo then roomed with other creatives in Sherman Oaks, where they named themselves after the house’s WiFi handle.
While collaborating with Grande is no small feat, Foster and Anderson have quite the history with the pop sensation. Below, check out five things you should know about Social House.
1. They started out writing and producing songs for other artists
Foster and Anderson began co-writing and co-producing songs for Grande as early as 2015, starting with her Christmas & Chill EP. The duo also racked up production credits on two of Grande’s other recent hits: “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings.” Social House also produced Jennifer Lopez‘s “Dinero,” which featured DJ Khaled and Cardi B. The track went on to top Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart.
2. They’re signed to Scooter Braun’s team
Given Social House’s connections to Grande, it wasn’t long before her longtime manager signed the duo to SB Projects. Foster and Anderson are also currently co-signed to TBHits and Republic.
3. Ariana fans might recognize them from her Sweetener World Tour
Social House opened for Grande on her Sweetener World Tour this year. “It’s unbelievable to think we have this big of an opportunity this fast,” Foster previously told Billboard. “We’re newbies.”
4. They’ve collaborated with Lil Yachty
Social House’s debut single “Magic in the Hamptons” featured none other than lil boat himself. “[‘Magic in the Hamptons’ is] an ode to real love,” said Anderson in a previous interview. “It’s about a couple being so in love that they feel young again.”
5. Social House is releasing their first EP next week
The duo’s debut EP, Everything Changed is out Aug. 9. The EP will feature the “Magic in the Hamptons” and 2018’s “Higher” as well as their most recent single, “Haunt You.”
