Pairing veteran rapper Snoop Dogg and newcomer sensation the Game, the How the West Was One tour is destined to be among hip-hop’s biggest tours in 2005. Opening April 15 in West Valley City, Utah, the run will encompass more than 30 North American arena and amphitheater shows. The two acts recently toured Europe together.
Along the way, Snoop will play solo shows at New York’s legendary Apollo Theatre on May 203 and a May 24 one-off at the Skin Pool Lounge, located in the Palms casino resort in Las Vegas, according to the rapper’s official Web site.
Snoop Dogg is touring in support of last year’s “R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece,” which debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 6 on The Billboard 200. The Doggystyle/Geffen set has sold 1.5 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Game is currently enjoying two top 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 in “Hate It or Love It” (No. 3) and “How We Do” (No. 9), both featuring 50 Cent. They stem from his debut Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope album “The Documentary,” which debuted in February at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list and has sold 1.8 million copies.
