“I don’t wanna be a wildebeest, they just dumb as a motherf—er,” are not words you expect to hear from Snoop Dogg.
But the rapper has always shown an ambitious versatility that belied his laid-back persona. He helped bring melody to rap in the early ’90s, expanded his brand by acting in a number of movies, both serious (Training Day) and less serious (Starsky and Hutch), and even reinvented himself as Snoop Lion. This year he added yet another side career: Narrating short nature clips for Jimmy Kimmel.
In the latest episode of Plizzanet Earth — a title nodding to Snoop’s important contributions to the English language — the rapper enthusiastically narrates a scene in which a crocodile hunts a wildebeest.
Most of Snoop’s sentences are catchphrase-worthy: “I loooove this shit right here,” and, “Sippin’ water with a lake full of alligators, he’s supposed to bite your dumb ass.”
As the crocodile wrestles the wildebeest under the water, Snoop shows no sympathy, shaking his head and saying only, “Bubbly brown sugar.”
