City of Hope and The Warrior of Light Foundation hosted its second annual Butterfly Ball at the Reserve in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night (April 28).
The event started as a fundraiser to honor the life of late music executive Yassy Hosseini, who bravely battled cancer for several years before passing. She spent her life advocating for awareness and raising funds that could change the way cancer is treated.
The Butterfly Ball, hosted by comedian/actor Maz Jobrani, was attended by actresses like Nazanin Mandi and Liz Hernandez, and featured a night of food, music and a silent auction. Auction included artwork, gift baskets, sports tickets, and music memorabilia. The latter was donated by the likes of Justin Timberlake, Aloe Blacc, Weezer, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Sponsored in part by Interscope Geffen A&M, City National Bank, and Habibi Properties, guests were also treated to a DJ set by Snoop Dogg who kept the night going well past midnight. By the end of the evening the event had raised more than $120,000.
City of Hope is an independent non-profit organization with an research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and other terminal illnesses. Warrior of Light Foundation was established to commemorate the life of Hosseini, a former staffer at Geffen Records, Capitol and Interscope Geffen A&M. She died at age 39 in 2016 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Items for the auction are still on sale here.
