The Smithsonian Channel will debut a series of music-related television
specials entitled “Inside the Music” in August.
The series includes the premiere of “All You Need is Klaus,” an in-depth
look at musician/artist Klaus Voormann. Known largely for his influential
album art for The Beatles and its individual members, the special includes
appearances and performances by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Carly Simon, among others. The show will premiere Aug. 22 at 8 p.m.
“The Accordion Kings,” delves into the music culture of the Magdalena Valley in Colombia. The special reveals a culture that thrives on the accordion, which warrants the renowned Vallenato Festival, a decennial six-day accordion fete which features Colombia’s players who aspire to be crowned the “King of Kings.” “The Accordion Kings” initially airs Aug. 1 at 8 p.m.
“Inside the Music” also debuts the special “Electrified: The Guitar Revolution,” a comprehensive look at the electric guitar. The special picks
apart several components of the instrument, including the creators, its
masters and its history. The special debuts Aug. 15 at 8 p.m.
