Senegalese R&B artist Akon enters a second week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “I Wanna Love You” featuring Snoop Dogg, but he also becomes the first artist to replace himself at No. 1 on the Pop 100, as “Smack That” leapfrogs “I Wanna Love You” on that chart. “Smack That” is also the first No. 1 on Billboard’s new Hot RingMasters chart, which launches tomorrow (Dec. 1).
On the Hot 100, the cut drops 2-3, switching places with Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” which is the greatest airplay gainer for a third straight week. “Irreplaceable” also remains No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally for a second frame.
Justin Timberlake’s former No. 1 “My Life” featuring T.I., holds at No. 4 on the Hot 100, while the Fray’s “How To Save a Life” ascends 8-5. Hinder’s “Lips of an Angel” remains at No. 6, while Gwen Stefani’s “Wind It Up” explodes 25-7 thanks to digital sales, earning her a third solo top 10 hit.
The Hot 100 top 10 is rounded out by Ludacris’ “Money Maker” featuring Pharrell, which drops 7-8, Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars,” which holds at No. 9, and Fergie’s “Fergalicious,” which slides 5-10.
Elsewhere on the chart, Snoop Dogg’s “That’s That S***” featuring R. Kelly rockets 85-20 in its second week, fueled by 35,000 downloads. The top debut is Daughtry’s “It’s Not Over” at No. 65, corresponding with the “American Idol”-bred group’s self-titled RCA debut, which opened at No. 2 yesterday on The Billboard 200.
Other new entries include Chris Cornell’s “You Know My Name,” the theme from the smash hit new James Bond film “Casino Royale,” at No. 79, Rihanna & Sean Paul’s “Break It Off” at No. 95, Aly & AJ’s “Greatest Time of Year” at No. 96, Pitbull’s “Ay Chico (Lengua Afuera)” at No. 97 and Jay-Z’s “Kingdom Come” at No. 98.
On the Hot Latin Songs chart, six-person group RBD’s “Ser O Parecer” is No. 1 for a second week, while Carrie Underwood begins a fifth week at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs with “Before He Cheats.” Rascal Flatts’ “What Hurts the Most” enjoys a second week at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, while “How To Save a Life” starts a sixth at the top of Hot Adult Top 40 tracks.
Billboard’s rock charts hold firm, with Tool’s “The Pot” at No. 1 on Mainstream Rock for a third week and My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade” atop Modern Rock for a sixth.
