On Wednesday night (Feb. 12), Slowthai collected the “hero of the year” honor at the NME Awards in London, but his behavior at the show had the internet talking — and not in a good way.
First, during his acceptance speech, Slowthai, real name Tyron Frampton, made lewd comments towards presenter and comedian Katherine Ryan: “Baby girl…if you want to do something, see me later…you ain’t never had anyone play with you like I’ll play with you.”
He also invited her to “smell his cologne” and added, “She wants me to tend to her flowers.”
Ryan then sarcastically responded,“You are, like, the hottest guy I’ve ever seen… I’m so thirsty for your c–k. Thank you for the attention. Let’s hear it for him! So hot! I’m so wet I’m going to slip off these stairs any minute.”
As audience members shouted that Slowthai was a “misogynist,” he was then seen tossing his cigarette and his microphone in social media footage. Drinks were thrown back and forth, and Slowthai leapt off the stage to get closer.
NME reports he was then escorted from the stage area, and left the show.
Ryan took to social media to comment on the situation, saying Frampton’s comments didn’t make her “uncomfortable,” and adding that “he was fine.”
Slowthai later tweeted an apology to Ryan.

He didn’t make me uncomfortable.
This is why we need women in positions of power. I knew he had lost from the moment he opened his mouth like any heckler coming up against a COMIC – not a woman – a COMIC. I was operating 2/10. What a sweet boy. I defused it.
Tonight was fun! ?? https://t.co/BBMPZpIvhy— Katherine Ryan (@Kathbum) February 13, 2020
He was fine. I’m the kind of woman he can say whatever he likes to! He’s fun xx
