This fall, hard rock act Slipknot will hit the road one last time… on its lengthy Subliminal Verses Tour. Subtitled the Final Volume, the 22-date outing will open Oct. 14 in Cincinnati and close Nov. 15 in Milwaukee, with As I Lay Dying and Unearth supporting.
Venues ranging from arenas to theaters and clubs are on the schedule. As previously reported, the run includes a three-night stand at New York’s new Nokia Theatre Times Square, as well as multiple dates in Philadelphia and Worcester, Mass.
“It’ll be up front and in your face,” drummer Joey Jordison says. “Expect everything you know from us, but a lot of curveballs. Should be interesting.”
The name of the tour indicates that this will be the band’s last live efforts in support of last year’s Roadrunner release. “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).” The Rick Rubin-produced set debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Since the album’s release in June 2004, the band headlined the second stage of last summer’s Ozzfest tour, winter’s Jagermeister tour and its own spring headlining run in the United States. International outings are still ongoing, with a show in Singapore on the itinerary for tonight (Aug. 16).
That concert will spawn recordings to be used on a live compilation due Nov. 1 from Roadrunner. The as-yet-untitled double-disc set will cull material from past tours to marry with the new recordings.
Also on tap is a one-off return to Ozzfest Saturday (Aug. 20) in Devore, Calif., as well as a pair of shows in Las Vegas, in addition to shows in Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina.
