The reunion of seminal underground rock act Slint has grown into a full-blown tour. Following a previously announced Feb. 25-27 run at the U.K.’s All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, which the band will curate, Slint will approximately 15 additional dates in North America and Europe.
The trek will begin March 1 at London’s Kentish Town Forum, a show that has already sold out. A second show at the venue will be added later this week. Slint will also play March 11 in San Francisco, March 12 in Seattle and March 25-26 at Chicago’s Metro and Park West, respectively. Tickets for the North American shows go on sale this weekend.
Slint achieved iconic status thanks to its 1989 debut, “Tweez,” and its 1991 follow-up, “Spiderland,” both of which revel in an ominous vibe accented by guitar-heavy blasts of aggression, quizzical, whispered lyrics and sudden dynamic shifts. The group disbanded after the release of “Spiderland” but in 1994 issued a self-titled Touch & Go EP recorded in between the two full-lengths.
Slint’s current lineup will feature core members David Pajo (Papa M, Zwan), Brian McMahan and Britt Walford. Sources tell Billboard.com that the trio will be joined at the shows by an as-yet-unnamed additional musician.
