Tour founders/producers Kevin Lyman and John Reese will reprise their Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, with headliners Marilyn Manson and Slayer topping a main stage bill that also includes Bullet For My Valentine and another act to TBA.
Promoted by Live Nation, the tour begins July 10 at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Sacramento, Calif., and will play 27 cities. Mayhem tickets go on sale to the public on April 24 at mayhemfest.com and livenation.com. Last year’s inaugural Rockstar Mayhem tour, with Slipknot and Disturbed as headliners, grossed $10,836,442 and drew 324,477 to 27 venues, according to Billboard Boxscore.
The Jagermeister stage will feature Trivium, All That Remains, and God Forbid, and the Hot Topic stage will host Cannibal Corpse, Job For A Cowboy, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, and Whitechapel. The freestyle motocross team Metal Mulisha will serve as an added attraction.
The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is the brainchild of Lyman, Reese and CAA’s Darryl Eaton, the creative team behind some of the industry’s most successful road jaunts, including the long-running Vans Warped Tour and the Worldwide Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour.
“After last years very successful package, we felt we needed to raise the bar higher and put together a package that hard music fans would love, and we feel like we have done that,” Reese tells Billboard.biz. “It also looks like I will be picking up a second job this summer as the lead bartender at the Absinthe-laced parties for Manson and Slayer.”
Following a model of tapping sponsors in unique and interactive ways, Mayhem was a finalist for the 2008 Concert Marketing & Promotion Awards. This year, Jagermeister will once again field its million-dollar mobile concourse tage, and Revolver Magazine has signed on as official Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival media partners.
