Lynyrd Skynyrd and 3 Doors Down will co-headline this summer’s 15-date Double Trouble tour, which begins June 25 at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati.
“These two bands have enjoyed a friendship and a kinship over the past several years, and we’ve been talking about them touring together for a while,” 3 Doors Down agent Ken Fermaglich tells Billboard.com. “We just couldn’t get the schedules to match up until now.”
A third act to be determined will open the shows. Skynyrd will close every night, but Fermaglich says the tour is a true co-headlining effort, with equal set lengths and production values.
“Skynyrd has to close because they’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and we’re not,” Fermaglich says of the recently inducted Skynyrd. “But it’s 100% a co-headline tour. Every night at the end of the night the two bands will join up for an all-star jam.”
The last show of the tour will be in Biloxi, Miss., on July 22 at the grand re-opening of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina. 3DD’s members hail from the Biloxi area.
