30 Seconds To Mars, Angels & Airwaves, Blue October, IMA Robot, the Pink Spiders and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will compete in battle of the bands contest sponsored by Cingular Wireless and the Conde Nast Media Group, Billboard.com has learned.
The winner will perform atop the marquee as part of the Fashion Rocks concert, which, as previously reported, will be held Sept. 7 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Cingular subscribers can vote for their favorite of the six acts by texting a unique code through Aug. 15. Full details can be found on the contest’s Web site.
IMA Robot’s entry into the competition comes ahead of the August release of its as-yet-untitled sophomore album. The group’s self-titled 2003 debut was issued by Virgin.
Fashion Rocks, which will be curated by Elton John, will feature performances by Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Nelly Furtado, Jamie Foxx, the Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Scissor Sisters, Rihanna, the Pussycat Dolls and Daddy Yankee.
