Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds have come a long way since 2008, as exemplified in their new song “The Long Way.” The track is the first single off the soul-rock band’s upcoming EP “Fight,” produced by Randy Jackson and expected for release in the fall.
On working with Randy Jackson, lead vocalist Arleigh Kincheloe (a.k.a. Sister Sparrow) said, “It was such a pleasure… He really brought out the best in our performance. While tracking this record, he really put us all at ease in a way that allowed the truth of our sound come to the forefront.”
Comprised of 8 members, two of which are siblings, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds’ previous work includes that of a self-titled debut album that came out in 2010.
“The ‘Fight’ EP is a collection of four songs that truly captures who we are as a band right now. It takes you from a burning ballad to a sweaty dance party to a classic story of betrayal with ‘The Long Way.’ The focus of the recording process was to harness the high energy of our live shows, and Randy really helped make that happen,” added Kincheloe.

The “Fight” EP is currently available for pre-order via iTunes, and will be officially released on October 1.
Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds toured nationwide from 2011 to 2012 with bands like The Avett Brothers, The Counting Crows and Fitz and the Tantrums. Additionally, the group also performed at music festivals such as SXSW and Bonnarroo.
The Brooklyn-based band will venture out on tour starting in their home state of New York this weekend.
