Popular girl group SISTAR have announce they would return to the K-pop scene on June 16, according to their record label.
After almost a year since their last group single was released (“Loving U” on June 28), Starship Entertainment broke the news that Hyorin Bora, Soyou and Dasom (otherwise known as SISTAR) would return for a full-group comeback. Their new single will be produced by hitmakers Brave Brothers who have produced a slew of hits for the girls.
While SISTAR has three K-Pop Hot 100 No. 1s (including the chart’s innagural No. 1), most recently the group’s official sub-unit, SISTAR19 featuring Hyorin and Bora, topped the tally with “Gone Not Around Any Longer.” The sultry jazz/pop track topped the K-Pop Hot100 for four weeks in January. During that time, SISTAR19 told Billboard that the full group would release a new album in the first of the year.
While SISTAR19 kicked off things for the group on the right foot, one cannot forget SISTAR’s past successes. Producer Brave Brothers have produced all three of their No. 1s, as well as “Gone Not Around Any Longer,” that all managed to show different sides to the girls. There was the peppy Euro-pop sound of “So Cool,” the sensual “Alone” and the summery bubblegum pop of “Loving U.” With a history of owning different genres and the charts, this comeback will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated of the year.
