“The Paul Simon Collection: On My Way, Don’t Know Where I’m Goin’,” a two-CD package collecting Paul Simon’s solo hits from 1972 through 2000, will be bundled with a bonus disc of previously unreleased live tracks. The set is due Tuesday (Nov. 5) from Warner Bros.
The collection will include 19 singles and album tracks, while the bonus disc will feature heretofore unavailable cuts “American Tune” (recorded in New York, 1973), “Duncan” (recorded in London, 1973), “The Coast” (recorded in Montreux, Switzerland, 2002), “Mrs. Robinson” (recorded in New York, 1999), and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” with Aaron Neville (recorded in New Orleans, 2001).
Among the hits featured on the first disc are Simon’s Billboard Hot 100 top-10s “Loves Me Like a Rock,” “Slip Slidin’ Away,” “Kodachrome,” and “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.” The set is rounded out by “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” “Still Crazy After All These Years,” “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes,” “You Can Call Me Al,” “Graceland,” and two tracks from Simon’s 2000 Warner Bros. effort, “You’re the One” — “Love” and “Hurricane Eye.”
One of the most successful American singer/songwriters of the rock era, Simon’s solo career turned 30 this year. This December, he will receive the prestigious Kennedy Center honors for achievement in the arts.
“You’re the One” debuted at No. 19 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 492,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The artist is currently at work on a new studio album and is shooting for a 2003 release.
