Lace up those knee-high platform boots and swirl in the smokiest and darkest corner of the club. This single from LA-based techno producer and Octopus Recordings founder Sian is one for the industrial ghouls.
“Opium” is all strung out on menacing mechanics and propped on the relentless thump of a steady factory beat. It’s daring and doom ridden, kind of like a sonic snarl. It’s the lead single from his forthcoming Ultraviolet 2.0 EP, due in full on deadmau5‘s mau5trap label Friday, Aug. 16. The rest of the EP follows the single’s lead with exploration of gloomy synthwave, darkwave and classical electro sounds.
Ultraviolet 2.0 features three songs in total and is currently available for preorder. After its release, Sian will hit the road for a few North American dates, including a couple opening slots in support of deadmau5’s The Cube V3 tour.
