Cheap thrills are great, Sia is so much better.
The superstar Australian singer and songwriter will perform at the 2020 ARIA Awards later this month, organizers announced Thursday (Nov. 12).
Born in Adelaide, based in Los Angeles, Sia Furler is no stranger to the ARIAs stage. Over her career, she has collected ten pointy trophies and three Sia albums have gone to No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
“It is a wonderful honor to welcome back Sia to the ARIA Awards, a decade after she last graced the ARIA stage,” comments Dan Rosen, CEO of ARIA. “In that time she has gone on to become one of the world’s biggest stars as she has taken her immense creativity and unique voice to fans around the globe. She is one of Australia’s greatest ever musical exports and we cannot wait to see the incredible performance she will deliver for this year’s ARIAs.”
Sia has an astonishing number of runs on the board. She made history at the 2015 APRA Music Awards, when she won the event’s top honor, songwriter of the year, for the third successive year.
Also, she has nine Grammy Award nominations, a Billboard Hot 100 leader (with “Cheap Thrills”), racked up more than 50 billion global streams, and her YouTube channel has raced past nine billion views.
Her latest single release “Together” is lifted from the album and motion picture, Music. It’s one of ten songs on the soundtrack, co-written with and produced by Jack Antonoff.
Heading into its 34th edition, the ARIA Awards will take place at its regular spot at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.
On the night, Sia will join confirmed performers Tame Impala, Lime Cordiale, Sampa The Great, Amy Shark and Archie Roach, who will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
YouTube will stream performances online through an ongoing partnership, and free-to-air broadcaster Nine Network will beam the show across Australia.
