Half the world’s population is made of women, and many of those women are mothers. We don’t always treat our mothers right, but when we’re lucky, they love us unconditionally. We owe it to them to show appreciation when we can, slow down and give them a call or a hug, do what we can to show we care.
Dutch duo Showtek shows its love for moms with funky single “Momma,” premiering exclusively on Billboard Dance today (March 13). It’s a soulful, danceable groove with pop structure carried by the powerful vocals of Earl St. Clair as he laments the moments we let our mothers down.
It’s paired with a black-and-white music video that shows all the different ways we hurt the women in our lives, whether they be our birth mothers, prospective moms of the future, or even our shared Mother Earth.
“Momma” is out on Universal Music. The label moved to formally sign the duo following the success of one-time release “Down Easy” in summer of 2018.
“As Showtek, we’ve come a long way,” the duo is quoted in a joint statement. “We’ve transitioned through different stages in our career, shifting sounds and always looking for a new direction. We established our name in the Electronic Dance Music industry, and we might never stray away from making that genre, but over the years we’ve been looking for a more mature sound where we can crossover. We are very happy that this new journey will go hand in hand with Universal Music, operating as our backbone to push the Showtek sound forward. We are excited that we are joining forces with their team that totally believe in us. We can’t wait to start this journey.“
