Shazam will be fully integrated into iOS in an upcoming update, according to Bloomberg’s sources. The integration will be across the mobile operating system and will likely integrate closely with the iTunes Store and iTunes Radio, which has been rumored to be a separate app in the next version of iOS. It’s not clear whether the integration will be Shazam-branded or referred to by a generic name on the platform.
Apple is holding its Worldwide Developer Conference, which the company uses to debut new products and software, in San Francisco on June 2. The integration could be announced then, though neither company has made an announcement and the integration may still be in development.
In February, Shazam and Warner Music Group announced a deal that will see WMG utilize the service for data-driven talent scouting (the label will also launch a Shazam-driven imprint).
Last month, Shazam secured $20 million in new funding from undisclosed investors, after bringing in $40 million the year previous. Since its founding in 1999, the company has raised $120 million.
Shazam and Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
