Shawn Mendes has delivered a 1-2 punch. Just hours after dropping “In My Blood,” his first new release in almost a year, the Canadian pop singer has shared another fresh track, “Lost in Japan.”
“Wanted to give you another song,” he tweeted at midnight, one of a string of teases from his social accounts. OK. Sure, why not.
“Do you got plans tonight?/I’m a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight/’Cause I can’t get you off my mind,” he sings on the sexy new tune, which opens with a subtle spell of piano then changes gears with a fat bass sound and groove. Mendes produced the track with Teddy Geiger and Louis Bell.
“In My Blood” and “Lost in Japan” are the comeback kid’s first new recordings since “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” was released in April 2017, and they’re expected to appear on his forthcoming album, SM3.
