A documentary about Sharon Jones of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings will be distributed by Starz Digital in North America, it was announced Wednesday (May 25).
Miss Sharon Jones! premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and recently played at SXSW. It also won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature at the Sarasota Film Festival. In it, filmmaker Barbara Kopple (Harlan County U.S.A., Shut Up & Sing) follows Jones through her battle with life-threatening cancer and return to the stage.

The film will open theatrically on July 29, 2016, followed by a digital, on-demand and home video release this fall.
