Shakira, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Foo Fighters are the first artists confirmed to perform at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. The fourth VMALAs will be held Oct. 20 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, marking the event’s first venture outside of Miami. The awards will air in over 24 Latin American countries.
In related news, MTV channels worldwide will air an “MTV Live Shakira” special this month, featuring the first live performances of material from Shakira’s current album, “Fijacion Oral 1.” The special, featuring English and Spanish tracks, was recorded in Madrid in June and features the duet, “La Tortura,” with Alejandro Sanz.
The show will premiere tomorrow (July 13) on MTV Spain, followed by the United States Thursday, MTV Hits on July 23 and MTV Latin America on the same day. The special will then air on MTV channels worldwide.
