Reggae-leaning vocalist Shaggy has set a Sept. 20 release for his sixth album, “Clothes Drop.” The Geffen set will be led by the single “Wild 2nite” featuring G-Unit’s Olivia, which will be available Tuesday (July 19) via digital download outlets. A video for the cut, also featuring Olivia, was recently shot in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Other guests pegged to appear on “Clothes Drop” include the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am on “Shut up and Dance” (which he also produced), the Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole on “Supa Hypnotic,” Natasha Watkins on “Don’t Ask He That” and “Ultimatum” and reggae vocalist Brian Gold on “Would You Be.” Rayvon, who guested on Shaggy’s massive 2001 hit “Angel,” re-appears on “Back in the Dayz.”
Producers who lent a hand on “Clothes Drop” include Sly & Robbie, Scott Storch, Tony Kelly and Soulshock & Karlin.
“Clothes Drop” is the follow-up to 2002’s “Lucky Day,” which debuted at No. 24 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 352,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Those numbers were significantly off the pace of Shaggy’s 2000 breakthrough, “Hotshot,” which has sold 6.7 million copies.
