Robert “FX” Sillerman’s SFX Entertainment, Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, and mobile service provider T-Mobile have partnered to launch a new TV show, “Ultimate DJ,” which aims to cover electronic music culture while presenting up-and-coming DJs and producers.
Syco Entertainment, which includes the “X Factor” and “Got Talent” TV franchises in addition to artists like One Direction and Susan Boyle in its record label Syco Music’s roster, developed the series with SFX, the largest global producer of electronic music-focused live events (including Tomorrowland, Sensation, and Rock in Rio).
“Bringing EMC to the world is our goal,” Sillerman said in a statement. “And building a TV franchise in the USA is a key part of that strategy. It’s always exciting to work with Simon Cowell, and the creative power of the Syco organization is undisputed.”
“We have been developing this concept for a while but our partnership with SFX has been a real game-changer for this format,” Cowell adds. “It made complete sense for us to collaborate with SFX with their access to the best up-and-coming DJs and their great marketing platform to build new DJ talent.”
A competition-based series, “Ultimate DJ” features online challenges for DJs to submit tracks for voting via social media; from there, the contest will graduate to live battles and performances in SFX event venues. T-Mobile aims to provide a platform for mobile customers to view the program on their devices.
