Comedian Sarah Silverman lit up social media on Monday night when she told Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ vocal supporters at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia “you’re being ridiculous” after some repeatedly attempted to disrupt the proceedings as a protest in support of their favored presidential candidate.
On Tuesday night, Late Night host Seth Meyers seconded that message to the “Bernie or Bust” crowd, whose boos were replaced by a small contingent of walk-outs during the second night’s roll-call vote making Hillary Clinton the first female presidential nominee from a major party in the nation’s history. Debuting a new segment entitled, “Hey!,” Meyers asked, “Hey, what’s going on? I tuned in last night and there was more white booing than the Casper movie. Look, I know you’re Bernie or Bust, but the results are in: bust won. We don’t have time for this.”

Noting that Republican rival Donald Trump is currently leading Clinton in some national polls, Meyers urged Berners to wake up and smell the demagoguery. “Guess what? You know how you have that crazy uncle you only see at Thanksgiving? Well this country is about 48% crazy uncles and it’s about to be Thanksgiving all day every day,” he said.
Bottom line: Meyers gets disappointment. Hell, he couldn’t get Rihanna to date him, but he doesn’t “stand in the kitchen and boo my wife when she’s telling me how she plans to make my life better.” He assured the Berners they should be proud of themselves for all they accomplished, but also, “You have to be quiet now. NOW IS THE TIME TO BE QUIET!”
