Scooter Carusoe was named SESAC’s country songwriter of the year during the organization’s annual country awards ceremony, held last night (Oct. 19) at its Music Row office. Carusoe penned the hit single, “Anything But Mine,” recorded by Kenny Chesney.
Carnival Music, publisher of “Anything But Mine,” was named SESAC’s country publisher of the year.
SESAC’s song of the year accolade went to “Mississippi Girl,” written by SESAC’s Adam Shoenfeld and John Rich of the duo Big & Rich.
In addition to recogizing its top country writers and publishers, SESAC was the first performing rights organization to recognize the Americana music format with SESAC Performance Activity Awards. Hayes Carll was saluted for his album, “Little Rock,” while Ray Wylie Hubbard was recognized for his contributions to Carll’s album, as well as his own project, “Delirium Tremolos.”
