One day after Cardi B gave her two cents on the longest government shutdown in U.S. history via Instagram Wednesday (Jan. 16), some Senators had a hilarious Twitter debate as to whether or not to retweet the message.
“B—-, I’m scared. This is crazy and I really feel bad for these people who gotta go to f—ing work to not get motherf—ing paid,” Cardi said in her video, referring to the 46,000 IRS employees who have to work to handle taxes.
A few Democratic senators weren’t sure if it was appropriate to share Cardi’s video due to her explicit language. Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii tweeted, “(Trying to decide whether or not to retweet the Cardi B video),” to which Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy replied, “Omg, I had the same argument with myself 30 minutes ago!”

After a bit of back-and-forth, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer hopped in on the nail-biter to ask, “Are you gonna RT Cardi B or not?”
Schatz ultimately decided against the retweet. See the exchange below.

We decided not to do it. Wouldn’t be senatorial. https://t.co/oR6XBlGu2F
