Sean Lennon will be scoring the indie vampire comedy “Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead” starring Jake Hoffman, Devon Aoki, Jeremy Sisto and Ralph Macchio.
Writer/director Jordan Galland’s feature debut stars Hoffman (son of Dustin) as an unemployed actor who gets his big break directing a bizarre off-Broadway version of “Hamlet.” But there’s a catch: the adaptation is written by a Romanian (John Ventimiglia, best known as chef Artie Bucco on “The Sopranos”) who happens to be undead.
Aoki plays Hoffman’s love interest. Macchio, famous for fighting as the “Karate Kid,” will play a reputed mob boss who ends up fighting vampires. Sisto plays the bumbling detective investigating the mysterious deaths surrounding the production.
Lennon previously scored the fantasy musical he starred in and co-wrote “Friendly Fire,” which featured appearances by Aoki, Asia Argento and Lindsay Lohan. The film accompanied his 2006 Capitol album of the same name.
“You can now download music and video together on your MP3 player, which I think is just so hip,” Lennon told Billboard.com at the time. “Computer technology is getting so cheap that being able to watch an entire movie on your toaster isn’t that far away. The more multi-media your project is, the more fun it will be to watch or listen to. Your machine will be ready to play music and visuals at the same time.”
