
Seal has joined the cast of Fox’s live musical The Passion. The “Kiss From A Rose” chart topper will play Pontius Pilate, who washes his hands of Jesus’ (to be portrayed by Telenovela’s Jencarlos Canela) fate, allowing him to be crucified. Hosted by Tyler Perry, The Passion will also feature Chris Daughtry as Judas, Trisha Yearwood as Mary and Prince Royce as Peter.

Seal follows in the footsteps of the iconic David Bowie, who played Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scorsese said he originally pictured Sting in the role.
“I was a little taken aback when I met Bowie: he was such a quiet and concentrated and thoughtful man, and he was truly humble,” Scorsese told EW. “We had the chance to work together on The Last Temptation of Christ, and for me, it was sheer joy.”
