As first revealed at Billboard’s 2007 “What Teens Want” conference, Screamfest founder Michael Mauldin is launching Screamstar.com on January 25. The Web site will serve as an information portal for the Screamfest Tour, as well as the launch of Scream Star Records, which is a new major distributed label led by Mauldin.
Screamfest.com will have several pegs including Scream TV, Scream Nation and Sound Off. Scream TV will offer the best highlights and performances from each of the seven previous Scream tours featuring artists like Bow Wow, Yung Joc, Chris Brown, B5, T.I. and Ciara. Scream Nation will be a social networking site with discussion boards, groups and chat features. Sound Off will poll the Scream TV and Scream Nation visitors weekly to glean their elusive interests.
Registration for Screamstar.com is free and registrants will receive an exclusive customized voicetone upon signing up. Visitors can also pre-order their Screamfest tickets at Screamstar.com. Upon launch, Mauldin will hold a talent contest where participants can submit their performance video to a team of entertainment executives for an opportunity to compete in a televised competition to win a Scream Star recording contract, a performance during the next Screamfest tour and $100,000.
The Scream Tour began in 2001. T.I. and Ciara headlined 2007’s Screamfest tour in over 20 national markets.
