The Homecoming Festival, a new dance music event due to be staged in Ayrshire, Scotland next month, has been cancelled.
The festival was to be held May 2-3 at Irvine Bay, with a line-up including indie-dance act Reverend and the Makers, Soul II Soul Sound System and DJs Josh Wink and Masters At Work.
Organizers had a five-year plan to develop a festival with North Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Executive. However, in a statement the organizers said it was no longer able to meet the council’s financial requirements regarding a bond on the site and the profit share for the event.
“All ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund, and arrangements are currently being made to organize new venues and dates for some of the artists that were scheduled to perform at Homecoming ’09,” said the statement.
It follows the February announcement that DF Concerts’ Scottish festival Hydro Connect will not be taking place in 2009, as a result of high costs and the impact of the credit crunch.
