Danish alternative rock band Saybia and Swedish act Kent top the list of nominees for the second annual Nordic Music Awards, to be held at Copenhagen’s Forum on Oct. 29. Each band are up for best act in their respective countries and both will compete for best Nordic act.
National, Nordic and international acts in nine categories receive nominations based on sales figures submitted by the respective branches of IFPI in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The criteria for nominations is based on a combination of album and singles sales; in the Danish category for singles, however, nominations are based on airplay.
Winners will be chosen by popular vote submitted by phone or text messaging.
The event will be televised live on TV2 (Denmark), TV2 (Norway), Kanal 5 (Sweden), Screen 1 (Iceland) and Voice TV (Finland).
Acts to perform include Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Shakira, the Cardigans, Mew, Pharrell and Outlandish.
NMA is arranged by Norwegian companies Monster, a TV-production firm, and media-concept organization AIR Productions.
