It’s not history-making like their previous outing, but DJ/producers Sasha and John Digweed are hitting the road together again this spring for the first time since 2002.
The duo’s 21-date, one-month bus tour will kick off at Mansion in Miami during Winter Music Conference (March 27), and end at Coachella’s dance tent (April 26), hitting both dance and rock clubs along the way.
Credited with bringing the trance sound to American soil over a decade ago, Sasha & Digweed broke new ground for DJs with their 2002 Delta Heavy tour.
Promoted by Clear Channel and produced by Warped Tour creator Kevin Lyman, the tour adopted the production ethics of a rock concert, with touring sound, lighting, staging, laser and video equipment, and hit massive venues like Miami’s American Airlines Arena and Denver’s Bronco Bowl. It was attended by more than 85,000 people over its six weeks.
Since then, the two DJs have toured on their own and in ways representative of their evolving styles. Digweed joined electro-rockers MSTRKRFT on the Urge-sponsored Diamonds 07 tour, and Sasha experimented publicly with different software-driven performance techniques on two different branded tours, Involver (2004) and Fundacion (2005).
He blazed another trail in 2006, becoming the first DJ to record, package and sell his set at L.A. club Avalon all on the same night via Live Nation’s Instant Live.
Tickets for the upcoming dates will go on sale via Wantickets.com today (Feb. 20). Some shows are 18+ or all-ages, and will begin as early as 9 p.m. because of their traditional venues (like Philadelphia’s the Fillmore and San Francisco’s Warfield).
