“The Blessed Unrest,” Sara Bareilles’ third studio album, is set for a July 16 release on Epic Records, and the pop singer-songwriter is previewing her latest full-length with a behind-the-scenes webisode series dubbed “Sara Bareilles Makes a Record.” After Bareilles launched the first two parts online over the past week, Part 3 of the series is debuting exclusive at Billboard.com — watch it below:
The third portion of “Sara Bareilles Makes a Record” focuses on “Brave,” the upcoming album’s lead single, currently at No. 19 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The “Love Song” and “King of Anything” singer is shown working with producer Mark Endert on the song, perfecting its percussion, and discussing her mainstream aspirations.
“Of course I want my songs on the radio. It’s an amazing platform to share your music and your message with the world,” says Bareilles in the video. “But at the same time, I don’t need a radio hit so bad that I am willing to do anything for it. At the end of the day, the integrity of my art is way more important to me.”
Recorded over the past six months, “The Blessed Unrest” follows 2010’s “Kaleidoscope Heart,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold a total of 441,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
