Bluegrass artist Alison Krauss makes an appearance on the upcoming soundtrack to Adam Sandler’s animated film “Eight Crazy Nights.” Krauss sings with the comedian on two of the album’s eight songs. The soundtrack will be released on Nov. 19 by Columbia, while the film is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 27.
The eight tracks on “Eight Crazy Nights” were all written and performed by Sandler, and help tell the story of Davey Stone, Sandler’s cartoon alter-ego. The film follows the 33 year-old Stone through a number of holiday antics as he trades a jail sentence for community service. The soundtrack will come equipped with a slew of bonus features, including an animated video, movie trailer, two screen-savers, and a short film centered on Sandler’s dog.
“Eight Crazy Nights” includes “The Chanukah Song Part 3” featuring Sandler’s former “Saturday Night Live” castmate Rob Schneider. “The Chanukah Song,” from 1996’s “What the Hell Happened to Me,” reached seven Billboard charts, including top-25 placements on both Billboard rock airplay tallies.
Sandler’s latest Warner Bros. album, “Stan and Judy’s Kid,” peaked at No. 16 on The Billboard 200 in October 1999 and has sold 563,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Krauss is up for three Country Music Association (CMA) awards, to be handed out Nov. 6 in Nashville, including album of the year with Union Station for the Rounder set “New Favorite.”
