Sanctuary Records, the label division of publicly-listed U.K. company Sanctuary Group, has reactivating the Sequel and Slogan labels.
Sequel will specialize as “a home for contemporary artists,” particularly those with an established fan base, according to Sanctuary in a statement. British alternative rock acts the Cooper Temple Clause (formerly with RCA) and Idlewild (formerly with Parlophone) are its first signings.
A Cooper Temple Clause single “Waiting Game” is lined-up for release Jan. 8, ahead of the album “Make This Your Own” on Jan. 22. First single “Homo Sapiens” opened at No. 36 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart following its release through Sequel last month.
The Slogan label will function primarily as a singles label, and will develop further as a digital label. Recent signing Bobby Cook’s “Gone So Far” will be released on limited edition white vinyl in January.
In related news, Giles Green, senior VP marketing, has been upped to executive VP, sales, marketing and digital, in recognition of his central role in driving the revamped label structure.
In a statement issued today, Green comments, “We also expect to announce another very significant addition to the label’s roster as early as next week, and we look forward to having major success with these albums through 2007.”
During the summer, Malcolm Dunbar joined the London-based company as head of A&R. Dunbar served as A&R director at V2 Music in London until September 2005.
