Marc and Oliver Samwer, the brothers who launched German mobile entertainment company Jamba, have exited the firm.
According to Jamba, the co-managing directors will stay on as consultants until June 2006. The Berlin-based company cites personal reasons for their departure.
Deputy managing director Berger-de León and finance director Dirk Hoffmann step up into the managing director roles.
Jamba is recognized as the European firm that made the sale of ringtones a mainstream business, in part through mass-market TV advertising campaigns. The company was also behind novelty act Crazy Frog, the first ringtone-based hit.
Established in 2000, the company was sold four years later to U.S. Internet company Verisign for a reported $273 million in cash and Verisign stock, but the Samwer brothers stayed onboard.
Jamba currently has 520 employees and sells more than 50,000 products for mobile phones-including music, games and wallpapers-through its Web sites. It has operations in more than 20 countries. Billboard recently rated Marc as one of the 20 top global executives in 2005.
