For the second year in a row, Samsung is bringing a live summer concert series to its flagship Manhattan location, kicking things off last night (June 29) with a performance from Sam Hunt.
As the first installment of the weekly “Live at 837″ series, the country crooner sang the record-breaking hit “Body Like a Back Road” along with favorites like “House Party” and “Break Up in a Small Town” in the intimate venue.
The concert schedule is part of Samsung’s “Made For Summer” program, which brings concerts, workshops and rooftop film screenings to the tech giant’s Meatpacking District location, dubbed Samsung 837. It’s all free, open to the public and powered by the company’s new Galaxy GS8 smartphone.
“This summer, Samsung 837 will transform into the ultimate destination to experience, capture and share your favorite summer moments,” H.L. Ray, head of partnerships and programming at Samsung, tells Billboard. “Our intention is to empower our guests with the technology to become the ultimate creators, makers and do-ers, so they don’t miss a memory.”
Samsung has yet to announce this summer’s performance lineup, which runs every Thursday night now through Labor Day weekend. But judging from last summer’s roster — Diplo, Gwen Stefani and Phantogram, to name a few — the next batch is bound to be crammed with must-sees.
