New York City is about to get a second-ever official Silk City gig, thanks to Samsung and AKG. The electronics brands want to give music fans a chance to try the new AKG N700NC Wireless headphones, and nothing lures audiophiles in like a rare performance from award-winning tastemakers Diplo and Mark Ronson.
The Silk City engagement is the first in a fall series of events called Samsung x AKG present Live at 837, Billboard is exclusively announcing today (Oct. 1). The first event will take place Thursday, Oct. 11, followed by another with Pusha T on Thursday, Oct. 25, and a yet-to-be-announced artist on Nov. 9.
Besides offering killer musical acts, the free with RSVP events offer fans a chance to meet with the artists and, of course, try the headphones, which are available to buy starting today for about $350.
“AKG’s legacy of innovation and leadership in the audio space is second to none, and at Samsung, we are proud to unveil a new lineup of headphones that will bring studio-quality design and engineering to consumers everywhere,” says Alanna Cotton, senior vice president and general manager of mobile computing and enhancements at Samsung Electronics America, in a statement to Billboard. “Our new series of AKG wireless headphones allow users to enjoy music exactly how it was intended to be heard by the artist – perfectly balanced and true-to-life.”
The Silk City show goes down Thursday, Oct. 11, at 837 Washington St., in the heart of New York City’s Meatpacking District. “Excited to make Silk City’s return to NYC at Samsung’s Live at 837 Series,” the duo tells Billboard, “See you all there!”
