Sam Smith has shared a snippet of his song for the latest James Bond flick.
Smith has tweeted a dramatic orchestral grab from “Writing’s On The Wall’, his theme for the forthcoming Bond movie Spectre. It sounds like classic, brassy Bond, though Smith’s edit doesn’t feature any of his vocals.
The multiple Grammy-winning British soul singer was announced earlier this month as the talent behind the latest Bond song. The track arrives Sept. 25 through Capitol Records and the film it appears in will be released Oct. 26 in the U.K. and Nov. 6 in the U.S.
“4 days!!” he writes. “Thanks to everyone pre-ordering, can’t wait for you to hear ‘Writing’s On The Wall.’”
“This is one of the highlights of my career,” Smith said in an earlier statement confirming his involvement in the project. “I am honored to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
Smith, who has recovered from a hemorrhage to his vocal cords sustained earlier in the year, has waved off talk he’s making progress on a follow up to In the Lonely Hour. It’s “not going to be anytime soon,” he recently remarked.
