Thursday (Dec. 6) marks the second-to-last release day for the Vevo DSCVR 2019 Artists To Watch series with performances by two English acts, Sam Fender and Easy Life.
23-year old singer-songwriter Sam Fender constantly exudes an honest passion for the craft that can be traced back to his upbringing surrounded by a musical family. It’s perhaps this deep connection from an early age that serves as the inspiration for Fender’s wide-eyed lyricism and gives him the natural ability to utilize music as an outlet for his experiences growing up.
Fender’s budding potential as a performer became undeniable when his debut EP Dead Boys arrived in November. His purposeful direction allows him to reach anthemic Springsteen heights at one turn while getting deep in the thick of a heavier, alternative jam on the next. He’s the type of versatile singer-songwriter that can do a little of everything because he simply wants to try it all.
In a prepared statement, Vevo E.U. vice president of content and programming Claudia de Wolff says, “Sam Fender has been steadily performing and perfecting his craft for some time, but 2019 is going to be big for him. His haunting vocals and creative songwriting means that he is on his way to becoming a new kind of star.”

Leicester rock band Easy Life embraces the diversity of voices in their 5-member roster to pool a hodgepodge of genres and inspirations into their mix. The open, nonjudgmental environment upheld by the band spills into their music to create an invitingly warm and chill vibe. On their 2018 mixtape Creature Habits, the collective nimbly shifts from indie rock to electropop to jazz with a comfortable hip-hop delivery thrown in occasionally by lead singer Murray, proving their grasp of multiple genres and desire to evade any definitive label.
“Easy Life are blending styles and genres in a way that is really making them stand out. Their ability to create songs, taking inspiration from their hometown, is masterful,” Vevo senior manager of music and talent Carl Young says. “Their unique sound meant that we were really excited to get to work with these five friends from Leicester. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in 2019.”
