The Screen Actors Guild has elected Greg Hessinger, the head of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, as its new national executive director/CEO.
No replacement has been named at AFTRA, but veteran official Kim Roberts will helm the union as interim executive director, along with president John Connolly.
While at AFTRA, Hessinger bolstered the union’s outreach to featured recording artists as well asTV and radio members. At SAG, he replaces Bob Pisano, who had been in the position since September 2001.
Both unions recently ratified a new three-year contract with film and TV producers. Both Hessinger and Pianso have also worked to merge the two unions; that campaign is expected to continue.
