Ryan Adams’ Taylor Swift covers album is about to become a reality. Today (Sept. 17), Adams announced that his top-to-bottom cover of Swift’s 1989 will drop digitally on Sept. 21.
He premiered his cover of “Bad Blood” on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe’s show at 12 p.m. (ET).
This is the first full song the public has heard from Adams’ version of 1989. Previously, Adams teased bits of songs like “Style” and “Blank Space” from the studio. He has cited the Smiths as a major influence in the cover series.
Lowe announced that the album will be up for pre-sale on iTunes tonight. Here’s what Taylor had to say about the project.
Ryan’s music helped shape my songwriting. This is surreal and dreamlike. Countdown to #RyanAdams1989 @TheRyanAdams pic.twitter.com/pGZB0uUqiB
