The Canada Post has introduced a series of commemorative stamps and collectibles honoring legendary rock group, Rush. Along with the iconic band, The Tragically Hip, The Guess Who, and Beau Dommage are also being featured in the Canadian Recording Artists series, available today.
According to the official website for the Canada Post, “Designer Louis Gagnon of Paprika drew inspiration from the bands to create special stamps and collectibles for the Canadian Recording Artists series, celebrating Rush, The Tragically Hip, The Guess Who, and Beau Dommage.”
Rush posted the news on its official website and Facebook page this morning. The stamp featuring the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame members depicts the trio’s famous “Starman” logo from the definitive Rush album, 2112. A booklet of ten stamps is available for $6.30 (Canadian); while the Official First Day Cover, cancelled in Toronto, retails for $1.63 (Canadian).
The postage-pad postcards, ($1.99 each, Canadian), and the limited edition 15’ x 20’ framed print ($89.95 each, Canadian) are already sold-out.
All of the groups are members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Rush was the first Canadian band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2013 and has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. The Canadian Recording Artists stamp series has previously honored musical icons from the Great White North including Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Bruce Cockburn, Robbie Robertson and Ginette Reno.
Rush is currently on tour supporting its recent album, Clockwork Angels and will next appear at the Enmax Centrium on July 24 in Red Deer, Alberta. The band returns to the States for four shows starting on July 28 at the Sleep Country Amphitheater in Portland, Oregon and concluding on August 4 at the Sprint Center, in Kansas City, Missouri.
The stamps are for sale at the Canada Post website.
