After Rush finished their R40 tour last summer, it was suggested that it would be the band’s final tour.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson spoke on the matter. Last year, the group has released a press statement that said the band R40 tour would “most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude.” For RS, Lifeson elaborated, “We had such a great time on the tour. And It was really nice to go through all the material reverse chronology, and I think our fans really enjoyed it. I think that no matter how long it would have been it would have been too short.”
Neil Drummer has been expressing his hesitation with the tour ever since it started. Lifeson commented, “Neil was prepared to commit to 30 days and he told us that right from the very beginning. He didn’t even want to do the tour, to be honest with you. It’s been increasingly difficult for him, but he committed to the tour and we got through it. As far as he as concerned, that was the end of touring.”

While touring is indefinitely on hold, Lifeson doesn’t want to put out the possibility of what could happen. “Maybe next fall or something like that, we’ll plan something,” he adds. “We took a year off before the last tour and we didn’t discuss anything about the band or work, and everybody had a great time, and we came back from that.”
