“Over the past decade, I’ve crowned eleven of the fiercest queens on the planet,” RuPaul said to kick off the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Exclusive Queen Reveal special on Friday (Oct. 20).
The two-time Emmy-winning host announced the cast of the third iteration of All Stars, premiering this January. The queens competing to join the ranks of previous All Stars winners Chad Michaels and Alaska Thunderfuck are: Aja (season 9), BenDeLaCreme (season 6), Chi Chi DeVayne (season 8), Kennedy Davenport (season 7), Milk (season 6), Morgan McMichaels (season 2), Shangela (season 2 and 3), Thorgy Thor (season 8) and Trixie Mattel (season 7).
“The first time I was on Drag Race, RuPaul told me I was not America’s next drag superstar,” Mattel said during the telecast. “And I’m here to tell him, KellyAnne Conway style, that is an alternative fact.”
The legendary Chaka Khan stopped during the special and offered advice to the queens: “This is a competition. Trust your instincts, trust yourself,” she said. “And then lay back and see what it do. Let it do what it do.”
In true Ru fashion, the special ended on a cliff-hanger: “Well there you have it! I’ve Ru-vealed the ten queens that will be competing on All Stars 3. But wait! I’ve only revealed nine. I’m just so awful at math. Or am I?” the host questioned, followed by a sinister laugh.
Will it be third-time’s-the-charm for Shangela? Does Aja have another ‘Linda Evangelista’ takedown hidden in her meticulously beaded tights? And what did Mama Ru mean with her cryptic question at the end? It sounds like we’ll have to wait until the premiere find out!
