Listening to Australian trio Rüfüs Du Sol is always an emotional experience. There’s something so delightfully weighty about the group’s third album Solace, which we at Billboard Dance named our favorite electronic LP of 2018, but its in the live setting that Rüfüs’ full beautiful breadth can be felt. The band is currently between headline performances at Coachella, but that didn’t stop the guys from visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform a glowing rendition of latest single “Treat You Better.”
It’s a journey of a song with a soft, intimate beginning that unfolds into dance party wonder. The camera homes in on long-haired singer Tyrone Lindqvist as his voice wavers like the light of so many candles around him. The song builds in rhythm and tension as the camera pans back, revealing James Hunt and Jon George, who dutifully beat out the song’s expansive rhythms on drums and synths, respectively. No doubt members of the crowd were jammin’ in their seats.
