Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson is recovering after doctors in Sweden successfully removed a brain tumor, her manager said. The tumor was discovered after Fredriksson fainted and hit her head against a sink three weeks ago at her Stockholm home.
Fredriksson underwent brain surgery at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm on Monday. “The surgery took almost four hours and as the medical team was able to remove the entire tumor, the operation was very successful,” her manager said in a statement. Fredriksson was said to be doing very well under the circumstances but will spend the rest of the year at home to recuperate.
The surgery forced Fredriksson and her partner Per Gessle to cancel a European tour later this month.Copyright 2002 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
