Allah-Las, the band scheduled to perform at the Maassilo in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the target of an alleged terror threat Wednesday night (Aug. 23), is resuming its tour Thursday night in Warsaw, Poland.
Amidst investigations, a 22-year-old man suspected of being involved with the threat remains in custody by Rotterdam police, but a man who was detained after driving around the venue in a Spain-registered van that carried several gas canisters was released, according to the Associated Press. “Investigations established that there is no link between the man and the terror threat,” police said of the van driver, a mechanic.
There is no known threat to Allah-Las’ concert in Warsaw, but police have security measures in place: uniformed and plainclothes officers will be on the scene at the Niebo club downtown, and those entering the venue will go through a detailed security check.
“In response to an alleged terror threat at The Maassilo in Rotterdam, Netherlands, our show yesterday was canceled. The investigation is ongoing and full details are not yet available. However, the Dutch authorities have informed us that there is no credible future threat to the venue or the band,” Allah-Las said in a statement released to Billboard. “More than anything, we want to thank the law enforcement personnel and our fans of Rotterdam — we’re grateful everybody is safe,”
The statement continued: “We are looking for a new date to reschedule the performance and will provide updates on that as we can. For now, the organizers will ensure all ticket buyers receive a refund as quickly as possible. The band, as always, supports peaceful, non-violent protest in the pursuit of social and economic justice.”
Wednesday night’s threat came after Spanish police tipped Dutch authorities, who responded by evacuating Maassilo, the Rotterdam concert venue.
Following Thursday night’s gig in Warsaw, the band’s tour will bring them to France, and then will resume in the U.S. in late September.
